FLOAT PLAN IS NOW AVAILABLE ON DECKEE!
Staying safe while boating has just become easier. The float plan feature is now live on the Deckee app.
When you plan a boat trip, it’s easy to forget to file a float plan before you leave. There are so many things to think about, such as your route, what to pack, and the marine weather forecast.
Yet, sharing a float plan with a loved one is crucial - a shore contact can alert the authorities, should you be overdue. If no one knows you’re missing or where you were headed, it’s very hard and time-consuming to find you. So at Deckee, we decided to make the float plan process easy and quick.
You can now fill in a float plan directly on the Deckee app. When you click on “start”, you’ll see the “set up a float plan” button.
Add your trip information, insert your safety contact’s details, share it with one or more people, and you’re ready to go. You can save your vessel and emergency contact’s information on the app, so next time you need to submit a float plan, it will be even quicker.
Be sure to have completed your profile with the correct boat information on the app, so these appear on the float plan. You can do this by going to “you” on the bottom menu bar, click on “profile”, and tap on “my boats”. Here you can add essential details about your vessel.
Your designated friend or family member will receive the plan. From there, they can monitor when you leave and how long you’ve been gone and will receive a notification when you’re overdue. Should this happen, they can immediately call the emergency services and relay all the information needed to find you, such as your boat registration and the colour of your vessel.
We have added a prompt to encourage you to create a float plan when you start tracking a trip, so it will be that much easier for you to remember to file one.
