DECKEE, THE OPERATING SYSTEM FOR THE WATERWAYS, RAISES $700K TO MODERNISE BOATING SAFETY

Deckee, an award-winning software company that has pioneered the operating system for the waterways, is today announcing the completion of an oversubscribed $700K capital raising to accelerate the growth of its boating safety app and expansion of its government partner network.

Since launching in Australia in 2015, Deckee has grown to become the official boating app of several states, receiving endorsement from governments in New South Wales, Western Australia and Tasmania for its innovative water safety capabilities. Over 100,000 users are now taking advantage of the service to stay safe and informed when boating, fishing, sailing and kayaking.

“We’re thrilled with the success we’ve achieved in Australia, but we’re only getting started in terms of the impact we will have on water safety around the world,” said Deckee Founder and CEO Mike McKiernan. “This new funding from existing and new investors will help us continue to grow our user base, onboard more government partners, and expand our engineering, marketing and sales teams.”

Boating is enjoyed by 200 million people every year, but can be dangerous, stressful and confusing, without access to the right information and guidance. The free Deckee mobile app (available on iOS, Android and Web) combines official alerts and navigational information with detailed weather, crowdsourced points of interest and a trip logging utility into one easy-to-use app.

In addition to the consumer boating app, Deckee provides maritime agencies with cloud solutions that support them in ensuring maritime safety and stewardship. The modular suite fosters safety and improves the dissemination of critical information, which unlocks insights that can inform policy and decision making.
