DECKEE Announced as the Primary Boating App for Victoria, in Partnership with Safe Transport Victoria

For years, waterway users in Victoria, Australia, have had to juggle multiple sources of information to plan, prepare, navigate safely and enjoy their time on the water. Finding weather forecasts, local boat ramps, official warnings and notices, waterway zones and safety equipment requirements often required using several apps, websites and publications, leading to uncertainty about where and when to go, what to do, and how to fully enjoy a range of water activities safely.

Now, in an exciting development for the boating community, DECKEE has been appointed as the primary boating app for Victoria through a new partnership with Safe Transport Victoria

Whether you’re navigating Port Phillip Bay in a powerboat or sailing yacht, paddling Gippsland Lakes in a kayak, or heading out for a day of fishing at Phillip Island with mates, this partnership unifies everything Victorian water enthusiasts need for their next day on the water, all within the free, easy-to-use DECKEE mobile app.

Official Boating App Victoria

Over 417,000 Victorians hold recreational vessel licences, and nearly 10,000 new licences are issued in the state every year. More than 1 in 10 Victorians regularly participate in recreational boating, and they now have access to the following benefits in the DECKEE app:

  • Plan your next adventure on the water with detailed maps, facility information, official warnings, live webcam feeds, speed zones, restricted areas, and community insights.

  • Access personalised equipment checklists, boating forecasts, regulations, and the latest updates from Safe Transport Victoria to ensure you are always ready for the ideal weather window.

  • Automatically log your activities when you’re out on the water and share your live location to give friends and family peace of mind.

Safe Transport Victoria is the latest state government agency in Australia to adopt DECKEE, joining Western Australia, New South Wales, and Tasmania in endorsing the app to their communities.

DECKEE’s CEO, Mike McKiernan, commented on the milestone: “Our mission has always been to help people fully enjoy their time on the water safely, without the stress of constantly switching between information sources or being caught unprepared for the conditions they encounter. Working alongside Safe Transport Victoria, we’re thrilled to be bringing 417,000 Victorian boaters a more seamless, enjoyable, and above all, safer way to explore the waterways they love.”

Boaters, anglers, sailors and paddlers across Victoria are encouraged to download the app today and experience a new chapter of on-water safety and convenience. DECKEE is free and available on both iOS and Android at deckee.com/download.
