Quiet anchorage out of the tidal flow
Reviewed Dec 2016
The Tweed River is extremely tidal and approaching the bar area you need to be aware of the tidal flow. The water flow in the Tweed River is fast as is the entrance area and for about 1.5 nm into the river it is moving with pace.
For an anchorage outside the main pace tidal influence proceed up the river keeping the land on your Port side. You will pass a main channel arm to the right and about 1 nm beyond the river opens up on the right side. Good holding out of the tidal flow can be had in this area. There are deeper areas but the main area is about 3 metres at low. There are no access to facilities at this area unless you are prepared to use the dingy for a longish trip.
