Thirteen miles further north, and once the main port for the inland town of Bega, Tathra Head protects a deep, commodious bay with a National Heritage listed steamer wharf on its eastern side plus a small museum and confectionery shop. Up the road from the headland is a shopping centre and at the head of the bay is a Surf Live Saving Club with a long beach running away to its north.
