Beautiful safe anchorage

Reviewed Oct 2017
Trial Bay was a stopover anchorage I recently (winter 2017) used during a delivery from Qld to SA in a 28 foot Taipan sailing yacht. I arrived in dead dark night with full overcast. Although there are red lights iether side of the safe approach, a chart plotter GPS is a very comforting device to use to find he way in to a good spot along the beach. In daylight it is very picturesque and quiet, so catching up on sleep and preparing the next leg was pleasurable. I found the bottom to be good and secure for holding the anchor.
Safe and secure, with quiet surroundings and pretty scenery

Trial Bay

With the ruins of its heritage-listed jail dating back to the late 1800s, and nearby Smoky Cape Light, Trial Bay provides an ideal place to await a tide to enter the Macleay River at South West Rocks. It is also a useful anchorage in its own right for those simply wanting a break en route to Coffs Harbour and points further north.
