Visited 2 days ago for the purpose of o'nite rest. Pilot did not talk about the Cray fishing season. The harbour was overflowing with fishing boats and I tried an anchor out of harbour. Extensive weed but shallow, anchor held until first light . Then 25 knots and were obliged to get underway. I believe that it is only safe to sail in good viz. . I'm fitted with cutters but when sailing , rudders and skegs are vulnerable and a good look-out is mandatory. Area from Portland to Robe seems to be favourite fishing area and as far out as 100 fathoms.
Nothing seen.
In fairness , it is important to know the Cray season .
