Great East Coast Stopover

We visited Coffs on a voyage from Gold Coast to Newcastle in March 2015 and stayed a few days.

First night was spent in the anchorage outside the marina , we found the holding great but the ingress of the swell into the harbour could get pretty uncomfortable in a mono hull ,,( rolly).

We loved wandering around the foreshore and the weekend markets

Off Shore Super Boats

The Off Shore Super Boats have become an annual attraction for Coffs, and one all locals look forward to. This year though, there was no advertising, and many tourists had no idea what was going on - some of the locals were in the same boat. What a perfect venue for such an event. The harbour is a natural amphitheatre which provides great viewing in almost 360 degrees. It needs to be passed on to the organisers, as so many people missed out on a free family event that showcases Coffs Harbour and is a great fun day out.

People good but pray you don't need a haul out!

Crane operator is a rip off! Needed to replace a shaft seal in a hurry. Couldn't get a price for the crane out but managed to line it up with a boat going in and another coming out. Usually budget $500 - $750 each way. After much heated negotiations agreed to part ways at $2,000 and not meet again.

Silver lining: Marine rescue are very switched on and great to deal with. Nothing was out of their way. A pleasure to deal with them. Chandlery was very easy to deal with, knowledgeable, and reasonably priced.

Entry to Coffs Harbour

Jan & Rob Howard
Reviewed undefined NaN
Two blue navigational harbour entry leads can be observed from some way offshore which guide you into the harbour and directly offshore of Coffs Harbour's main jetty. Once in the Harbour the entrance to the marina and commercial wharves is to the North. Be careful with depth on entry into the marina. A marker buoy to be left to Starboard is located at the entrance to assist entry into the marina.

Water is available from the Coffs Harbour Marina and Diesel is available from the Fisherman's Co-op wharf 9am to 5pm (and potentially other times on request).
