I'm too big!

I asked for a quote, but apparently size matters. When we got to boat length they said they don't insure yachts over 12.5 m, (I think), anyway I was too big! Steve

Nice website, but turns out they won't insure a 2004 Bavaria 44.

The online quoting system rejected my boat. Says it's Outside underwriters conditions. I'll call them and follow up.

shopped around and ended up with YOUI

Club Marine were great to me after having a boat written off and paid out in full. Took a little while however the result was a positive one.

Given that my risk / claims history wasnt brilliant the premiums were skyrocketing so I shopped around and ended up with YOUI. I even went back to Club Marine with the YOUI policy schedule and pricing to see what they could do and in their words, they said the policy was Apples for Apples and they could not match it.

Saved me $1200 a year.

Haven't needed to claim from YOUI and I hope I have no need to so cannot comment on claims processing.

I wouldn't touch most of the big name boat insurance companies with my spinnaker pole

I recently bought a quite old but very sound 28 foot sailing boat second hand. After initially reacting very positively, the insurer that had insured the vessel for the previous owner declined to insure it for me once the sale price was disclosed. The boat had been surveyed less than two years previously and all the boat, contents, tools and equipment had been valued at that time, however the low sale price was the sticking point. Tip! Don't bargain a second hand yacht price down too hard, regardless of market forces. Strangely almost all the other insurers rejected my request for a quote, even before all the details were disclosed. It was almost as if there had been collusion, but I'm sure that could not be the case. I did insure the boat as it turned out, with Youi, for a cost that was very reasonable. I wouldn't touch most of the big name boat insurance companies with my spinnaker pole.

No Reason Given

I recently was due to renew my insurance with YOUI. I received a letter from them telling me they were unable to continue insurance on my yacht but unable to give me any reason as to why. Strange given that I had not had any claims with them for the 2 years prvious. After a lot of phoning around finally finished up with insurance with the NRMA and at a cheaper price than YOUI.
