We have multiple polices with SGIO

Dont have much choice here because as soon as you give them the 6743 postcode they want to hang up real fast.

Club Marine wont insure here as far as my research indicates and I dont have any mates with boats with them. They have always been more expensive than SGIO when I enquired.

Aside from that SGIO are good and they are advertising at the moment that if they cant beat competitors prices they will pay you $$

We have multiple polices with SGIO and never had a problem with claim resolution, even with Interstate investment properties (storm damage in QLD was fixed real quick).

Hefty premium

My original insurer, quoted me a premium on my new boat (Cavalier 43) of over $7000 for a value of $135000, while birthed in the Breakwater Marina, Townsville.

My new insurer, Club Marine, quoted $1700, for the same vessel and value, also exempt me from having to undergo an out of water survey until next time I lift her out - 5 stars.

I was amazed at the different responses from insurers for the same vessel and insurance conditions, birthed in the same Marina. Obviously SGIO are not interested in insuring boats in the tropics, regardless of the Marina cyclone rating!!
