Second to none Service and Proffesionalism at Signature Yacht Services

Greg Harding
Reviewed Dec 2016
As part of our cruising this year we had decided to call into Boatworks on the Coomera River in Queensland to undertake a fair bit of maintenance on our 2004 Lagoon 410 Sunshine. Our intention was to removed all the old antifoul back to the gelcoat, fix a crack in the starbourd rear step, repair our front window which was detaching from the Saloon and all our head sewrage lines.

We fell on our feet when arranged the work to be done by Craig Humphries and his dedicated and proffesional team at Signature Yachts. They are multihull specialists but do work on a wide range of craft. Craig was more then happy for us to become involved in the project and do as much or as little as we wanted. The completed work was way above our expectations and the bill also came in below budget which made us even happier. All his team are keen sailers and know the concerns us boat owners have. We cant recomend this business enough.

Grow your own Seawind 1000

Our much loved, but often neglected, 2001 Seawind 1000 was long overdue for some major work. When a friend advised that he was planning to have his hulls extended (as was done to make the Seawind 1000XL/XL2 series) I thought that I might do the same. Craig Humphries and his team at Signature Yacht Services have a proven track record doing this type of work and they have a reputation for delivering a quality product at a most reasonable price.

Yes - they are based at The Boat Works (Gold Coast) and we do live on Lake Macquarie but it was a no brainer for us to decide to take the boat up. We are very glad that we did.

I have commented elsewhere that The Boat Works is a pretty amazing place with fantastic facilities and wide range of marine services all working together to create the very best outcome for the owner and their boat.

The owner of Signature, Craig Humphries, is a passionate catamaran sailor who has gathered together a team of highly professional, and equally passionate, craftsmen who take great pride in their work. They were always happy to offer advice and I was very happy to be guided by their suggestions. Yes - we ended up doing a lot more work than initially planned but replacing a through hull that was like a metal sponge is not a bad thing! Similarly, dropping the rudders was a bit of a rude shock as it revealed a fair bit of shaft corrosion. Nice to know when it is such a critical system! They know their boats and hence their advice was always entirely relevant to my boat and situation.

The main job was the hull extensions which were designed and built to our exact specifications. We are more than happy with the outcome as they have increased our speed and made it much much easier to get on and off both a jetty and our inflatable dinghy. Did I mention that you can now sit in a directors chair on the new transom platform and either fish or just watch the world go by? Not too bad for a 10m boat!

In conclusion, I have no hesitation in recommending Signature Yacht Services to anyone who wants quality work done on their boat. It appears that no job is too small and no job too big as their web site will attest.

I'd highly recommend Craig and staff for a range of yacht repair and maintenance tasks.

Our Lagoon 400 needed a bit of TLC after a big year's cruising from Brisbane to New Caledonia and thence to Tasmania and Victoria. So we hauled out at Boatworks for the required antifoul as well as new rudder bearings, fibreglass and gelcoat repairs. New through-hulls and a bit of plumbing inside was undertaken to make a bit more of a dent in the jobs list.

Craig and team were able to take on the rudders, glass and gelcat repairs in true professional form. They were also happy to let us do the bits we could do, like sanding and antifouling, to reduce the costs. A few helpful hints and a bit of oversight on their part helped us to get a wonderful result and a very reasonable price.

We found SYS to be a professional team with a wide skill set. They are friendly, helpful, flexible and ethical in their prices.

Return to Signature Yacht Services

AFter two years and purchasing our new boat we returned to Boatworks and Signature Yachts on the Coomera River to have the boat (Lagoon 440) antifouled and some small jobs undertaken. Once again the service we received was exceptional. We had a boom cradle installed on the bimini, gel coat repairs undertaken, a new teak rail to re-direct water away from the cockpit and complete new antifoul and prop treatment. The work was completed to the highest level and the employees could not be more helpful or friendly. The work was completed on time and on budget which is a bonus. 10 out of 10 Signature Yacht services.
