Royal Geelong Yacht Club

The RGYC is the only place to be after a day on the water! Club facilities are impressive and the staff are friendly and very helpful. There is enthusiasm for all types of boating at RGYC and staff are only too willing to assist visitors and members alike to link into club activities. There is easy access into town if you can tear yourself away from that view of the bay, but why would you . . .

Following our return from Bass Strait with a few days to spare we decided to spend a night at RGYC before returning to our home port.

We phoned ahead from Portarlington a day before and asked if we could spend a night at the RGYC marina. The staff were very friendly and helpful. After a tough sail from the heads the week before to Apollo Bay in confused seas beating to windward and then having to hold up there fro 4 days dues to heavy Easterlies we decided to head back rather than try Grassy Harbour, three Hummock or Stanley as had been planned. A few nights at QCYC then Portarlington we still had a few days before we were due to back home. We had arrived at the ETA around lunchtime then with forecast heavy Northerlies the marina satff gave concern fro our comfort and arranged a pen for the night. Cold beers in the members after hot showers were welcome as it was an extremely hot day and night.
We had an enjoyable time and as has been our past experience RGYC are always helpful and it is a nice place to visit and stopover.
The satff are friendly and helpful
