Pleased to hear you have decided to berth with us long term. We certainly hope you enjoy our facilities and the Whitsunday region - it is definitely a great choice of home port!

Miraculous transformation

I would like to take this opportunity to say a big thank you to the Abell Point staff and management.

I feel it must be said with 14 years' experience (super yachts) of visiting the Whitsunday region and in particular Abell Point Marina, your marina and staff have undergone what I could be best described as a miraculous transformation, the can do attitude was a delight to deal with, and the surroundings within the marina are world class.

Managements changes and plans are truly a credit to all involved, we loved our experience this year, and I look forward to berthing again real soon in Australia's newest number ONE marina, Abell Point.

Well done everyone.

Hi Jason

We very much appreciate the letter of thanks and have passed it on to the entire team. We have most definitely undergone a major transformation since 2014 and the marina today is a destination in it's own right. Really glad you enjoyed your stay at Abell Point and we look forward to welcoming you back soon and showing what's new in the marina village!

Revamped and open for business!

Situated at Shingley Beach, to the west of Airlie Beach, Abell Point Marina is naturally sheltered from the prevailing southeast trade winds. The massive rock wall enclosing the marina ensures your boat's safety and comfort in just about any weather. Since Paul Darrouzet bought the marina from the receivers about 4 years ago, there has been continuous improvement to the berths and facilities. Abell Point Marina is now up there with the best, and is efficiently and professionally run.

Apart from water, fuel, power, laundry and amenities, the marina also offers several top bars and restaurants, a range of marine businesses and is the base for helicopter tours to the reef. This can get a bit noisy, but the helis only take a couple of minutes to take off and land, then they are gone.

It's an easy walk to Airlie, or to the shops of Cannonvale, but the marina offers a concierge vehicle to help you get around. There is also a dock hand service, meeting you on arrival to help you tie up. Abell Point Marina can accommodate boats up to 60m or as small as trailer boats and is often used as a base for family trailer boat holidays.

We also now have our Ocean Club customer lounge, which is available to all guests and includes 12 en-suite bathrooms, customer check-in office, sundeck with guest Wifi, complimentary tea/ coffee and BBQ facilities. We hope to welcome you back soon to experience the changes we have made since your last visit.

Abel Point Marina, good venue but not competitive in price

I must admit I was a bit reluctant to write this review as I could not fault the marina in service etc BUT the rates for a berth are now so expensive that we have cut our visist substantially opting to go to Hamilton Island or McKay instead. At $180 a night for our catamaran I just cannot justify the expense for the services provided. The cruising grounds north and south of the Whitsundays are sensational and the Marinas are substantially cheaper by over $100 a night with both offering very good levels of service. In talking to other cruisers from all walks of life they are now giving APM a wide berth due to the charges and now looking at alternatives. As stated I cannot fault the service but I can not fault the service at McKay, Townsville, Gladstone and other marinas which all are substantially cheaper.
