A Friendly Marina

The marina is situated on the southern side of the river about 2nm from the river entrance in Burnett Heads. There are catamaran berths and helpful staff to help with ropes, organising gas bottle refills and anything else required. There is diesel on the outside arm on a 24x7 access by a credit card machine. Water is also available. There is no Petrol physically on the Marina but can be obtained via jerry can close by which the marina staff operate.

There is a Seafood co-op next door.

If you need to provision then you can ring IGA in Burnett Heads and they will come and collect you. Do your shopping and they will bring you back to the marina. The IGA is a good sized store with fresh vegetables, bread and all what you expect. There is a hotel next door for the essential and medicinal supplies.

I stayed at the marina 4 times now on route to the Whitsundays and the experience has always been positive. The berthing rates are reasonable and the staff very helpful.

We loved Bundaberg marina - it was just what we needed when we finished our circumnavigation. Friendly, helpful and the lovely town of Bundaberg a short bus ride away. A very pleasant stay.

Relaxing and enjoyable

Like most cruisers heading up the Queensland coast we always intended to stop in and restock at Bundy and had heard a bit about the marina at the Port

A very professional and very cruiser orientated marina. This is a marina that all marina managers on the east coast should visit to see the facilities cruisers enjoy. The chandelry is very very well stocked and staffed. The facilities are clean and very well maintained. Tradies are helpful. We had both a mechanic and a sparky to our yacht. Both spent 30 min or so trying to find our problem. Both refused payment.

We stayed at the marina Mid July 2015 en-route north. The Marina is roughly 15 minutes up river from river entrance. The leads and nav aids are very easy to follow with the marina being located on the southern shores of the river next to the fish Co-Op. As noted in the ad there are quite a large number of berths available but if cruising north or south a phone call the day before to ensure a berth is highly recommended. (Plenty of room in the river to anchor). As Midtown marina is no longer there this is the only viable option.

The facilities are excellent and staff will assist in tying up if you let them know. Power and water to all berths. Catamaran berths are available but once again phone prior to arrival to ensure a berth. We found the staff very friendly and could not do enough for us. Facilities also available are a well stocked chandlery, excellent haulout facilities, cafe/restaurant, a dedicated area for cruisers where you can meet for a BBQ or sundowners. The showers/toilets were kept spotless and the laundry was very good as well. The marina also has several hire cars. These are older models including a ute but in very good working order for $49 a day plus the cost of fuel. 200KM is covered in your hire fee. We took advantage of this for some sightseeing and provisioning. If you don't want to hire a car the marina has a small commuter bus to ferry you into town or the Shalom Markets on a Sunday (A must for fresh food etc) at selected times. The fuel wharf is located on a T head and had the cheapest diesel on the east coast of Australia, even cheaper than the garages in town. You are out of town a fair way but with the services offered by the marina we found this no problem. Provisioning is very easy and cheap with excellent facilities at Bundaberg and surrounds. We found the berthing rates to be very very good and have no hesitation in recommending a day or extended stay here. We will certainly making this are regular stopover. (For the Aldi fans there is now one just outside of town just off the ring road)

If you are an international sailer the marina has facilities to arrive or depart Australia with customs etc at Bundaberg to clear you in or out.

Our favorite Queensland Marina

The marina is located just inside the mouth of the Burnett River and is very secure in all winds. The berths are very wide and most easily accessible. There are also a number of catamaran berths available. The marina staff are extremely friendly and helpful and will happily assist with berthing etc.

There is a self serve fuel dock on site which has the cheapest fuel on the coast. During our stay diesel was $1.27 per litre (cheaper than the service stations in Bundaberg), There is a small but reasonably well stocked chandlery located in the marina and extensive marine services are available including an excellent marine engineer, shipwright electrical, sail maker, haul out and dry storage.. Bathroom facilities are modern, clean and well maintained. A coin operated laundry is onsite. Limited free WIFI is available but does not reach all areas of the marina. Other facilities at the marina include a very popular restaurant/bar and takeaway fish and chip shop. Cruisers Corner is a nice social hub for cruisers provided by the marina with BBQ, fridge, seating and a television.

Ocean Pacific Seafoods is located next door to the marina offering exceptional fresh seafood and bait. They have a special for marina clients of a fresh platter for two with smoked salmon, two spanner crabs, two Moreton Bay bugs plus prawns for $30. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED!!!

An IGA supermarket, Post Office, Bakery, Café and Hotel are located in the township of Burnett Heads about a kilometre from the marina. The IGA and Hotel both provide a free shuttle bus for customers.

The marina provides a free shuttle bus into the Bundaberg CBD about 20 minutes away Monday to Saturday and to the excellent Farmers Markets on Sunday Morning.

The facilities and incredibly friendly, helpful nature of the staff sees us give our first ever Five Star rating to this marina.
