Fantastic one design racing and the family can go cruising.

Purchased a very ordinary S80 in Sydney, transported it to Melbourne, spent 18 months restoring the boat and since then have had 14 years of fun and pleasure.

The S80 is competitive and reliable class with a wonderful group who sail on Port Phillip Bay all year round.
Race or cruise - all works and a very family friendly class.

I have owned Merak for 14 years and race it in Saturday Club Races, S80 State Championships and the Festival of Sails.

The boat is very reliable and maintenance is affordable as most work can be done DIY.
The close racing in a competitive, but collaborative fleet
The ability to be competitive in mixed fleets.
An excellent class association

I purchased our S80 in Feb 2016 from a friend who had owned the boat for some 9 years.

Using the boat for both racing and recreational cruising with the family, the S80 class meets both these needs and overall is a pleasure to sail in all conditions. Performs particularly well down wind under either spinnaker or heady / main.
Down wind runs
Ample room in cockpit for recreational cruising
