An amazing challenge has materialised for the Deckee team this year. From humble beginnings, our website Deckee.com is shaping up to have a much bigger impact on the boating industry than we initially imagined.
We have the potential to unite the global boating community by giving our ‘word of mouth’ culture a place to flourish online.
However to do that, it is going to take a talented, diverse and passionate team. As of today, we are now seeking new crew members to join us on this exciting voyage into the unknown and help us shape the future of boating.
The problem with posting a traditional job advertisement is that it forces us to describe a specific role in a way that wouldn’t really capture who we are or the values that shape the way we work.
We’ve realised that finding someone with the qualities we need requires a different kind of approach. So, what type of crew are we looking for?
Having an appreciation or love of the ocean and the boating lifestyle is a great start, but it’s not essential. In all our dealings in the boating industry, we've come to realise the importance of good character. This is not something that you switch on when you’re around others — it is who you are as a person and that resonates through your actions.
Our work at Deckee is a combination of our strongest talents and what we are passionate about. We are a small team, but our crew brings together unique perspectives and skill sets and puts them into practise to help bring about positive change to the industry.
We continuously learn and adapt— we never make the same mistake twice. We love experimentation and we are constantly looking to simplify and improve our service (you’ve probably noticed we are always asking for your feedback).
Finally, a good work/life balance is essential to the productivity of our crew. We believe in having the time to do the things that interest us and make us happy, so we can always deliver our best.
If these points describe you and entice you, and you have professional-level skills in any field — sales, marketing, editorial, web design, development, or anything else — then please introduce yourself by emailing us at firstname.lastname@example.org.But wait! Here are a two quick tips.
You should be excited about what Deckee is doing, and have an idea of how you might fit into it. It’s fine — great even — if you have more questions than answers, but if you’re just dropping a line into every pond you find, save your time.
Write well, attach nothing. We’ll be assessing applicants on the strength of their communication because that is so much of the job. Say what you have to say in the body of the email message and link to anything you want to show us.
We're looking forward to hearing from you!
