7 Reasons boats are good for your health

Strictly speaking boats aren’t time machines per-se, they cannot transport you from one period in time to another but they can transport you to places where it seems time has left them behind.

Places where development is gauged by how much the reef has expanded, progression is heralded by the return of a species and infrastructure describes the shape of the reef and the direction of tidal flow. Life is full of distractions and getting out on the water is a soul soothing experience that promotes better health. Below are the reasons why you should go boating more often.

1: CHEAT TIME

Life’s accelerating pace faces a time anomaly on boats. We refer to it as the two for one factor. A full day on a boat is the equivalent to two days on land, so if you apply that theory and spend 1.5 days on the water each weekend, then you are experiencing a long weekend every time you go out. Who doesn’t want more time in their day?

2: QUALITY OF LIFE

From the moment you cast off the lines you know you are leaving it all behind. All that is ahead is all that matters, even before the first wisp of sea spray catches you unaware, your troubles are distant and far behind. Ahead are enriching opportunities, learning to fish, seeing a world not seen from land, adventuring outside of the known comfort zone, discovering new places and living new experiences. Isn’t this the essence of life?

3: NATURES’ SCHEDULE

As mentioned above the clock ticks slowly on the water, it’s the natural Circadian rhythms that we are forced to adopt. Our physical and mental behaviour are re-set to nature’s schedule, you respond primarily to light and darkness in your marine environment. You get up earlier, you do things sooner and at the end of the day when it is all over, you quickly drift off to sleep with a natural rocking of the boat.

4: REWARDING ACTIVITY

Whether you’re savouring the taste of fresh fish caught by a family member or instilling confidence in your children/grandchildren through learning deck duties, discovering new experiences on boats brings with it so many different rewards for all ages.

5: BONDING WITH FAMILY AND FRIENDS

Indelible memories are created by atmospheres that cultivate enriching experiences. Time spent away from TV’s, Video Games and electronic devices creates quality time for friends and families to bond. Simply watching the sun set from the cockpit of your boat or the full moon rise out of the sea, there is no better place to share experiences with friends and family than together on
the water.

6: ACTIVE LIFESTYLE

It’s hard not to be physically active when you are on a boat, diving into crystal clear turquoise waters for a swim, going for walks on a sandy cay or fishing off the back, time aboard encourages activity and connects you with nature.

7: LEARNING EXPERIENCE

Learning keeps the mind active and promotes mental capacity. Owning a Riviera opens up a world of possibilities, knowledge and experience, encouraging full enjoyment of life and challenges us to engage our brains.

WHY WE DO IT

Discovering new places that are only accessible by boat, seeing marine mammals and creatures in their natural habits and watching the sun rise and set over the water. These are some of the reasons the team at R Marine Jones holds Events, Experiences and Rendezvous through out the year. We love getting like minded people together to use their boats for the purpose they
were built.

WHAT YOU WILL GET OUT OF IT

Experience new places and anchorages, build navigational skills, explore further in a fully supported environment, learn from our knowledge. Regularly boating will reduce your stress, enhance your enjoyment of life and form friendships based on shared experiences, leading to a longer happier life. What are you
waiting for?
